Getting Started

Orthodontic treatment is not something that you can rush.

We put together a customised treatment plan that will be followed to achieve the results you want. Read on for the step by step process that you can expect from Tony Weir Orthodontics.

Pre-Treatment

During your initial consultation, Dr Tony Weir will provide you with all the necessary referral forms that you need to get the x-rays for your teeth. You need to have all the necessary x-rays taken to be forwarded to Dr Tony Weir. Once you get your x-rays, the staff here at Tony Weir Orthodontics will call you and let you know the outcome and schedule you for your next appointment.

Your First Appointment

At your first appointment, we will take photographs as well as models of your teeth, which become our starting records. Then, we will give you a copy of these photos to keep and refer back to for you to see how far your treatment has come. This will usually take 15 to 30 minutes.

For Braces

Usually, during your first appointment, we will place separators or spacers between some of your back teeth. These are small elastic rings that will enable us to fit a metal band comfortably around your back teeth. A week after this and appointment will be scheduled to place braces on your teeth.

For Invisalign

If you choose to get Invisalign, we will also take photographs and perform a 3D scan of your teeth. The photographs and 3D scan will be used to determine the design of your treatment plan and the aligners.

Another appointment will be scheduled approximately 4 weeks after the scan is performed to start your Invisalign treatment. Tooth coloured attachments are often bonded to your teeth at this appointment. These attachments are difficult to see but help the aligners to grip your teeth firmly and help them to move.
